Phosphate-free wire for screw production

For over 14 years, CELO has been using phosphate-free wire for screw production. Since 2010, we have been collaborating with a wire drawing supplier in the Catalonia Region.

After extensive tests, modifications and communications with the supplier, we were pioneers in successfully homologating the phosphate-free cold-forming wire and using it as a standard raw material for the entire product range, which includes all variants of the TAPTITE®, REMFORM® and FASTITE® 2000™ screws.

This phosphate-free wire offers numerous benefits to the environment, our customers and CELO as a manufacturer including:

Environmental benefits:

  • Reduced of CO2 emissions, saving 83kg of CO2 per ton of wire.

  • Reduced environmental impact by eliminating phosphate sludge, preventing wastewater contamination with nitrates and heavy metals, minimizing contaminated oil, and reducing discharge and polluting waste.

Benefits for our customers:

  • Elimination of the risk of the appearance of the delta ferrite phase in the quenched and tempered bolts.

  • Lower chemical exposure for workers, as phosphate coating involve hazardous chemicals.  Using phosphate-free screws reduces the risk of chemical exposure and related health issue.

Benefits for CELO:

  • Avoids the formation of delta ferrite during heat treatment processes (quenching and tempering) and eliminates the need of dephosphating in our facilities.
  • Compliance with our customer standards, as many industries are moving toward stricter environmental regulations. Providing phosphate-free screws helps us meet these evolving standards.
